This company would not do a transaction on this book from the US to the UK. So I will given a refund.

Fortunately, however, I was able to get hold of a copy from elsewhere.

But I should have been told this before the transaction took place - not happy.

When I first received this book I was going to send it back; but the more I compared the context of it to the words I messed up on my Medical Transcription papers, I realized that if I would have had this book at the beginning of the course I would have gotten my papers correct. I recommend it, you will use it.

Don’t waste you money. I have been a Medical Transcriptionist for 36 years. I bought the book and so did a co-worker. Have only found one thing in there I was looking for. It has become a joke to look in the $50 word book.

Impressive bulk, many different sections such as General Terms, Specialties, Guide to Terminology. There are no visible dividers to show you where the different sections start and end. I use sticky flags, or I could use marks on the edge of the pages if I didn’t plan to resell it.

Otherwise, very useful book.

I recently purchased this book in spite of the many bad reviews here. I am glad I purchased it.

It is true that it is difficult to find words in this book because of it's organization into specialties. However, as a student, I find this is a great learning tool. As I hunt for a word, and discover it not where I thought it might be, I discover other words, or discover that I was mistaken about what word I've heard. On the other hand, it is also true that there are words that aren't listed, but that's to be expected in a book of this scope. If this book were expanded about 1000 pages, it might be perfect.

However, it has helped me enormously in my studies. I would guess that I will stop using it much after I get a job, and move on to specialized word books, such as any in the Stedman series, after I know what I need. After all, there are 843 pages in the very thorough Stedman's Medical & Surgical Equipment word book alone. But as a student, I'm not about to buy all the Stedman word books just yet.

In the meantime, I would highly recommend this book, along with some common sense, a medical dictionary, and the internet, to any MT student. Rating: 4 / 5

This is an excellent reference for medical transcriptionists, however it is now 8 years old and needs to be updated.

I wish that I had taken the time to read users' review before giving Nuance my hard-earned money.

All I got from their email support was canned replies. It's obvious that they didn't read what I wrote. I wasn't able to log in to their website, and they kept
sending me the same reply over and over (8 times).

When I finally tracked down a phone number and actually talked to someone (for another fee), he promised to look into and get back to me, but then I never heard back.

Many others had the same bad experience.

On the internet (not from tech support) I found that if you are running 64-bit, you must download their version 10.1. But if you didn't pay extra for download, you can't get it.

Once you pay an arm and a leg for this software, you will find it arrives with a required Internet connection to “Activiate” which complexity borders on harrassment. It doesn’t work with 64-bit systems, and Nuance will be glad to charge you a bundle for the priviledge of learning that fact. Nuance has a 30-day return policy, and that ONLY if you bought the software direct from them. After that, tough nuggies on you! I would *NEVER* buy anything from Nuance ever again. BE WARNED!

I would just keep it all , you never know when you might need to look something up that you forgot.
